Concert Infrastructure has signed a contract with the Government of Alberta to deliver five high schools in Alberta using a public private partnership (P3) delivery model.
The project entails the design, build, finance and maintenance of schools located in Leduc, Blackfalds, Langdon and two in Edmonton. Once construction is complete in 2024, the schools will accommodate nearly 7,000 students.
The designs for the schools include sustainable considerations and energy conservation systems and methods that are intended to achieve LEED Silver Certification for each school.
“Concert is excited to continue its strong and collaborative relationship with the Government of Alberta and deliver these critically-needed schools to meet the demands of growing communities. We are extremely proud to continue Concert’s legacy as a community builder, building a people-first future through the delivery of critical public infrastructure,” said Derron Bain, Managing Director of Concert Infrastructure. “Together with our primary partners, Bird Construction, Wright Construction and Ainsworth, we have a proven track record of success in the P3 market, particularly in the delivery of multi-site school projects in the province.”
The high schools will be owned and operated by their respective School Jurisdictions and delivered through the P3 model under a 30-year design-build-finance-maintain contract.
The Concert-Bird Partners team will work closely in partnership with Alberta’s government, local communities, school boards, parents, and students during the delivery of the project.
