TESORO: Vancouver landmark completes The Creek Community

Located in Southeast False Creek, TESORO stands on the water’s edge, completing Concert Properties’ latest master-planned community, The Creek. From its conception in January 2021 to its completion last month, this 17-storey landmark epitomizes luxury living, offering 92 two bedroom and larger homes.

Designed by renowned architects Rafii and ZGF Architects, TESORO exemplifies contemporary west coast modernism. Its strategic placement near the waterfront and iconic structures like Science World demanded its unique architectural approach.

“The distinctive curved design of the building was carefully crafted to connect with the waterfront,” said Colleen Anderson, Chief Marketing Officer, Concert Properties. “This design not only provides residents with an exceptional living experience but also maximizes the number of homes with access to Vancouver's iconic water, cityscape and mountain vistas.”

TESORO's interiors, designed by BBA Design Consultants Inc, are a modern interpretation of classic European luxury, marrying functionality with sophistication.  The two colour schemes are made up of the finest materials, with homes featuring chef-inspired kitchens equipped with Gaggenau appliances, custom Italian cabinets by Poliform and extensive slabs of natural stone including marble and quartzite.

Beyond its homes, TESORO offers thoughtfully landscaped grounds, accompanied by curated amenities such as a fireside lounge, sauna and steam rooms, hot and cold plunge pools and a fully equipped exercise facility, catering to modern living standards.

The Creek has emerged as a testament to collaborative urban planning. Spanning six acres, The Creek embodies Concert Properties’ commitment to building resilient, inclusive and sustainable communities, catering to the needs of its residents with a diversity of homes and a variety of amenities across five buildings in a thoughtfully designed master-plan.

The Creek unites the efforts of the City of Vancouver and the private and non-profit sectors. The community includes four condominiums—Voda, Navio North, Navio South and TESORO—and one affordable rental building, The Railyard Housing Co-op, providing 135 affordable homes for families in need. The Community Land Trust, a social purpose non-profit organization, was selected by the City of Vancouver to own and operate the affordable housing through the Railyard Housing Co-op. All buildings are designed to LEED Gold standards, with TESORO aiming for LEED Platinum certification, and are connected to the Southeast False Creek neighbourhood energy utility—an energy system that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in the area by providing a centralized and efficient heating solution.

Each building within The Creek community is designed with the pedestrian experience in mind, incorporating public artworks and social nodes for people to gather at street level. Pathways lead residents to the waterfront and a future City park.

The community’s architectural aesthetic pays homage to the area's railyard past while embracing clean contemporary design principles and using building and landscape materials that are native where possible.

“The vision for The Creek was to create a community that is well integrated with the neighbourhood, sustainable and distinctive while providing much-needed affordable housing and public open space,” says Craig Watters, Chief Development Officer, Concert Properties. “The success of the Creek demonstrates the value of a collaborative partnership and a commitment to a shared vision between a community-minded developer and the City of Vancouver.”
