People-first spotlight: Patrice Charles
Our people are what make us who we are, and we look forward to sharing their stories with you. This month we shine the spotlight on Patrice Charles, Generalist, People Experience, who has been with Concert Properties for eight years.
In your own words, please describe your role:
As a Generalist with the People Experience team, I assist in a handful of strategic responsibilities and functions such as staffing, employee relations, training and development and benefits, and provide research and data-driven recommendations for best people practices that align with Concert Properties’ people-first culture.
I am also involved in exciting projects and initiatives that are implemented across the organization, like our three-year Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy and the Concert Properties Buddy Program.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining the Concert Properties team?
We have been named one of BC's Top Employers for a reason! From the diverse workforce and benefits to the challenging growth opportunities and incredible leaders, this is a rewarding company to work for.
How do Concert Properties’ values and mission align with your personal values?
The opportunity to give back to the communities in which we live and work is important to me. Whether through our time or financially, I’ve always appreciated how much Concert Properties and its employees give back to many different charities and causes.
What is your favourite memory of your time with Concert Properties?
The holiday season at the end of the year always brings great memories. Not only does Concert Properties spare no expense in showing its appreciation for employees, but it also takes the time to help those in need. Year after year we’ve donated to Youth Without Shelter (YWS) and taken part in various toy and food drives.
Some of my best memories involve giving back and spending time with my colleagues and friends, like when I took part in our first Covenant House ‘Sleep Out to End Youth Homelessness’ in 2019.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family, friends and my community of faith.
