David Podmore, OBC, was awarded the “RI Medal of Excellence in Leadership” by the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (REIBC) on October 27, 2022, at REIBC’s 60-year anniversary awards gala in Vancouver.
The RI Medal of Excellence in Leadership celebrates and recognizes an individual with an RI designation who has demonstrated a unique ability to guide and inspire others. The professional RI designation is granted to an educated, experienced and connected real estate professional. This medal reflects David’s additional leadership in, and contributions to, the real estate industry.
In fact, David is recognized as an icon in Canadian real estate, bringing more than four decades of industry experience to Concert Properties, the company he co-founded in 1989. David is Concert Properties’ Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer, and as a result of his leadership and vision, Concert Properties has grown into an $8 billion asset company and one of Canada’s most reputable developers.
He currently serves as Chair of INSPIRE, the British Columbia Institute of Technology's (BCIT) largest ever fundraising campaign, and sits on the Business Council of British Columbia’s Executive Committee. He previously served as Chair of the BCIT Foundation, President of the Urban Development Institute (Pacific Region), President of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders' Association and Chair of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
David is also the recipient of numerous community and professional awards including the first Award of Excellence granted by the Real Estate Institute of BC, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and in 2014 he was invested into the Order of British Columbia.
“It is an honour to be recognized by the REIBC for this remarkable award,” says David. “I believe that Concert Properties’ success is due to our ongoing commitment to three founding principles that remain true today: to deliver long-term returns for our owners; create jobs and use skilled, onsite union labour; and give back to the communities where we work.”
