After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were thrilled to welcome back our in-person Annual Corporate Charity Golf Tournament on September 1, 2022 in Vancouver and September 15, 2022 in Toronto.
Since 1995, this event has combined golf and fun – with each tournament theme ranging from ‘Casino Royale’ to ‘Western’ to this year’s ‘Capes on the Course’ – to raise funds for trades training programs across Canada.
We were able to continue to provide support to trades training programs over the last couple of years only because of the generous support of our partners. So the goal of this year’s event was to say thank you to these many superhero-like partners (rather than to solicit donations), and to have fun.
The themed holes this year included a Superman strength challenge, a superhero photo booth and even an Aquaman dunk tank! Thanks to the generosity of our amazing partners we still received $50K in donations, with Concert matching this amount, resulting in $100K going to support trades training programs across the country.
Including this year’s contribution, this event has raised over $4.3 million in funds for hundreds of bursaries and scholarships that equip diverse members of our community with the skills needed for well-paying careers in the construction industry.
“One thing is clear: We could not have provided this much support to trades training over the years without the support of our industry peers and partners who come out to play and support this important cause,” said David Podmore, Concert’s Chair, President and CEO. “Through this effort, we are helping address a long-term labour shortage by delivering a consistent pool of skilled trades labour to the construction industry – a virtuous circle of giving.”
