BCLC asks quartet to submit ideas on new Kamloops headquarters
The B.C. Lottery Corporation has taken another step toward a potential new headquarters in Kamloops.
The corporation has chosen four proponents that will be asked to respond to a request for proposal that would for design-build.
The quartet includes Concert Infrastructure, Fengate Development, Gracorp Capital Advisors (representing Riverside Development Partners) and Morguard Investments, which has partnered with general contractor PCL and architectural firm Musson Cattel Mackey.
Each must submit two proposals, one in which BCLC would own the facility and one in which the Crown corporation would sell the facility and lease it back.
Deadline for submissions is Feb. 19.
Once the information is gathered, the agency will assess all of its options, including a new building, reconditioning the existing facility on West Seymour Street or adding to the current structure.
A plan is expected to be ready to present to the province bynext summer.
Lottery executives have said they want to remain in Kamloops, but need to deal with the existing building, which is 53 years old.
Many of its essential components — mechanical, electrical and structural — are original and aging.
