Vancouver, BC, Canada – In the spirit of giving during the holiday season, the Concert Properties team donned their halos to join in the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society’s (GVFBS) Community Angel Week from December 14 – 19.
In response to the Food Bank’s appeal to “Let your halo shine by holding a food drive in your office or school,” Concert rallied its forces and collected more than 2,500 units of food and $4,500 to contribute to the drive.
Filling four company vehicles to the brim, the much-needed donations were delivered to a Food Bank drop-off point at Citytv this morning by Concert’s Executive Vice President Brian McCauley and President and CEO David Podmore, who was also featured on the station’s Breakfast Television program.
“It’s our goal to help as many families fill their pantries as possible,” said Podmore. “The holiday season is a time to share some of our own good fortune to help others in the community.”
In addition to food items, the Food Bank also welcomes cash donations. For each $1 received, the GVFBS can purchase $3 worth of food.
Independent of government funding, the Food Bank provides food and related assistance to as many as 25,000 people each week and 40 per cent of those recipients are children.
Established in 1982 in response to the economic recession that began in 1981, the GVFBS moves more than eight million pounds of food in and out of its 33,000-square-foot warehouse each year. www.foodbank.bc.ca
