One of the many ways Concert gives back as a company is through mentorship of the next generation of real estate professionals.
As a demonstration of that commitment, Concert’s Senior Vice President, Investments, Andrew Tong (who has also served as an Adjunct Professor at UBC’s Sauder School of Business) joined up with UBC Professors Mark Monroe and Tsur Somerville to lead and mentor a team of six Sauder undergraduate students competing in what many consider to be the most prestigious real estate case competition in the world. With the added mentorship of Leslie Marta and Cam MacGregor, fellow members of Concert’s Investment group, the Sauder team was successful in beating out 16 teams from across the globe representing top university business schools.
Teams had five days to analyze and prepare recommendations for a case, based on a real-world commercial real estate transaction, which they presented to a panel of high-ranking real estate investors, developers and experts from private equity firms. The annual case competition was held in early November by the Centre for Real Estate and Finance at Cornell University in New York.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Cheong, Touraj Manshadi, Wei-Ting Leong, Graham Russell, Blake Taylor and Tyler Yen on a job well done!
