Vancouver, BC, Canada – Golfers swung into action at Concert’s seventh annual golf classic to raise $27,000 for BC Institute of Technology trades students.
The event raises money for the Concert Properties Bursary Fund established in 1995. The provincial government provides matching funds. The endowment has grown to $300,000. Annual interest finances student bursaries.
Thanks to the support of the 160 golfers who played at the Northview Golf & Country Club in Surrey, and golfers at previous tournaments since 1995, 73 financially needy students enrolled in qualifying technology and trades training programs have received bursaries totaling $55,555 to date.
This year, nine $1,000 awards will be presented to deserving students entering a trades training program.
"Concert Properties and the many supporting sponsors of the tournament are to be congratulated for their continued direct support of trades students,"said BCIT President Tony Knowles. "Industry partnerships like this are making a real difference."
