The puck dropped at Concert’s Toronto Wellington office on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at an after-hours bubble hockey tournament to raise funds for the SickKids Foundation.
Sixteen teams of two to three players faced off on classic dome-style hockey tables in a March Madness-inspired competition to determine who would be crowned the "Best of the Bubble". Competing for more than just bragging rights, the winners of the in-house competition proudly represented Concert at the SickKids Foundation’s official Bubble Hockey Night on February 26, 2019, where they made a strong showing among fierce competition.
“Our tournament and the official Bubble Hockey Night were a fun way to come together and support an amazing cause,” says Kelly Wilson, Vice President, Development – and member of the winning Concert team “The work that the SickKids Foundation does is inspiring.”
In addition to a $10,000 donation by Concert, Toronto staff hosted a raffle at the in-house tournament which further raised nearly $700. Concert’s contribution will go toward the construction of a new state-of-art hospital and patient support building, as well as assisting SickKids with its breakthrough research.
The SickKids Foundation was able to invest over $140 million toward child health research, learning and care in 2018. Thanks to this funding, the hospital is able to advance major scientific and technological research to combat disease and congenital childhood conditions. The Foundation continues to have ambitious goals for the future – but it requires the support of the community to continue its mission.
“Concert takes great pride in giving back to the communities in which we work, live and build,” says Brian McCauley, Concert President and CEO. “It’s an honour to support the SickKids Foundation and its vision of creating a better world through healthier children.”
