Continuing 30-Years of meaningfully giving back to our communities
Ninety-one participants (53 riders and 38 virtual riders) in Vancouver and Toronto, comprising Concert, Concert Infrastructure and Tapestry staff and residents took part in the 2019 Ride to Conquer Cancer. Our devoted riders made the epic two-day, 200+ kilometre journey from Toronto to Niagara Falls to benefit the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and from Cloverdale to Hope to support the BC Cancer Foundation. This is a new route for the Vancouver ride; it’s a fitting place to end the ride and begin new journeys together, in hope.
Each participant has a lot to be proud of, as this event was a physical challenge with an important fundraising component. Through our team’s fundraising efforts, we raised an impressive $150,000 to advance cancer research and enhance care. Thank you to our business partners, colleagues, friends and family for your generosity and support - demonstrating that it really does take a community coming together to make a difference.
Every one of us have been impacted by cancer. Whether immediate family members or friends, cancer has devastating and life changing effects on our lives – and the Concert family is no exception. “Having lost our Co-founder Jack Poole and our first CFO Lionel Wazny to cancer in 2009, and many more of our staff impacted throughout the years, we had a special reason to participate in this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer to raise funds for cancer research, and honour our 30-Year Anniversary by supporting our communities,” says Brian McCauley, Concert President and CEO who participated in the Vancouver ride.
Since Concert’s founding 30 years ago, our focus has not only been on building strong, sustainable communities, but also on meaningfully giving back to the communities where we live, work and build. The Ride to Conquer Cancer is truly about community coming together to honour those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
