An essential part of Concert’s role as a community builder is giving back to the communities where we work, live and build. Through ongoing service, Concert has fostered relationships with two Victoria community-support pillars, Our Place and the Victoria Cool Aid Society.
Our Place is an inner-city community centre that serves Greater Victoria’s most vulnerable populations by providing hot showers and free clothing, counseling and outreach services, transitional housing, and over 1,600 meals a day.
Since 2014, Concert has supported two Our Place key initiatives, including the annual Hungry Hearts Fundraiser, which has raised over $500,000 to date, and the Sponsor-A-Breakfast program. Through this program, sponsors make a financial donation and have the opportunity to serve meals prepared on-site by staff to guests. On May 16, 2018, Concert staff served at their 15th breakfast in just four years.
“We are always excited by the opportunity to participate in a community activity as a team,” said Alison Wedekind, Concert’s Victoria-based Senior Sales Manager, who serves on the organizing committee for the Hungry Hearts fundraiser and is the company’s representative for the breakfast program. “We all love the experience of helping out in a meaningful way.”
Since 2016 Concert has also been involved with the Victoria Cool Aid Society, an organization that seeks to end homelessness by working in partnership to develop community-based solutions in Greater Victoria, including emergency shelter, supportive housing, integrated health care and other support services.
This year Concert is a proud sponsor of the 50th Anniversary Homecoming Gala, with all proceeds directly supporting the Victoria Cool Aid Society’s programs and services for people in the Capital Region.
