Bringing home-baked goods to share is very popular among co-workers, and Concert staff in Vancouver are no exception. In early November, Mylène Giroux, Development – Administrative Assistant, organized over a dozen people to run the Fall Bake Sale, with proceeds benefitting the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Staff-organized bake sales in the past have donated proceeds to other local causes, like the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
“Baking is a nice way to show people you care about them, and this year our bake sale is helping Veterans and their families,” said Giroux. “We have some very talented bakers, and lots of people are eager to make a donation to sample tarts, cookies, and slices of waffle cake.”
The delicious treats and cash donations raised a total of $570. Concert matched 100% of the proceeds, donating a total of $1,140 to the Poppy Fund.
“As a Canadian company, Concert is proud to match our staff’s contributions,” said Brian McCauley, Concert President and CEO. “We love seeing Concert employees bringing fresh ideas for our CommunityWorks initiatives forward, especially when those ideas taste great.”
