This year at Tapestry, Concert’s seniors living communities, there are two concurrent anniversary celebrations as Village Gate West and Arbutus Walk mark 10 and 15-years, respectively. These events celebrate both staff and residents – some of whom have been with Tapestry since the beginning.
“Today I am blessed to be part of the Tapestry family for 10 years!” said Olive Yaremovich, one of four original residents at Village Gate West. “I appreciate the opportunity to live independently, while at the same time having help available if needed. Perhaps utmost in my mind is the ever-present, helpful staff and familial spirit that filters through Tapestry on a daily basis.”
From the opening of the first community in BC in 2003, to the expansion into Ontario in 2008, and the opening of a second BC location, Wesbrook Village UBC in 2010, Tapestry has become a leader in offering a different brand of lifestyle community for seniors. Long-time residents, like Yaremovich, are a testament to a model designed to meet seniors’ needs – not only in facilities and services offered but also in the strong sense of community.
Independence and choice is an integral part of Tapestry, and each month staff take pride in offering a wide range of activities and social events, including group fitness classes, baby and toddler sing-alongs, holiday parties, and several centennial birthday celebrations. And the calendar of evening events is full of opportunities for fine dining, pub nights, guest speakers and musical performances.
Looking to the future, Tapestry is expanding into the Victoria, BC marketplace with Tapestry at Victoria Harbour, a new development currently under construction. And Tapestry is increasing its presence in Ontario with the development of another location at Niagara-on-the-Lake. In addition to geographic expansion, Tapestry will expand the service model at Niagara-on-the-Lake to include memory care, a much-needed offering to support residents with dementia.
“We continually strive to improve and refine services for an aging population,” said Adena Waffle, Vice President, Seniors Housing at Concert. “Celebrating these milestone anniversaries for Tapestry shows us that this model of offering choices resonates with seniors. As we expand, our priority is to maintain the quality and integrity synonymous with Concert, infused with the community feeling of Tapestry.”
